UltraSystems held the “on-call” environmental compliance services contract with Metro for six years, with over 42 task order awards and five contract extensions. Responsibilities included successful management of environmental work to ensure compliance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Act of 1966, as well as other applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to the potential impacts that Metro projects may have on the environment.
UltraSystems’ project management encompassed a broad range of environmental services, such as preparing technical studies for air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, land use, noise and vibration, traffic, parking, and safety; acting as a liaison between subcontractors and Metro; directing project coordination and permitting processes; assisting in federal scoping; ensuring CEQA and NEPA compliance; conducting hydrological and biological monitoring of wells, springs, and other natural areas; completing planning and engineering studies; and providing other related professional environmental services. Work under this contract included preparation of analyses, studies, surveys, models, predictions, or reports related to the categories of impact normally found in the CEQA and NEPA guidelines, or extraordinarily required by conditions that developed on projects as they were planned, designed, constructed, operated, or closed out. In accomplishing the assigned tasks, UltraSystems provided Metro with in-house technical staff and resources, equipment, software, supplies, and services including the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.

- Modified Initial Study (IS)/Addendum, Warner Center Park and Ride Facility North Parking Lot
- Initial Study, New Bus Layover Facility at the Northwest corner of Temple Street and Beaudry Avenue
- Initial Study, New Subway Entrance, Lankershim Boulevard and Chandler Boulevard (North)
