UltraSystems provides consulting services for the identification and remediation of hazardous waste contamination, including Phase I Environmental Assessments, Phase II Site Characterization Studies, and remediation plans and oversight. These activities are aimed at identifying and managing contamination issues in a controlled and cost-effective manner. The owner/developer's planned ultimate use of the subject site is also important in establishing the investigative strategy.

UltraSystems personnel are trained and certified to design and prepare specifications for the abatement of Abestos-Containing Materials (ACM) and Lead-Based Paint (LBP) materials. Friable asbestos material is any ACM that, when dry, can be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure. Abatement procedures control fiber release from friable ACM, and control lead paint particle release from LBP materials. Abatement methods include encapsulation, enclosure, and removal in accordance with applicable regulations. UltraSystems capabilities for asbestos abatement technical studies include:
- Submitting notifications to the Division of Occupational Safety and Health and the local Air Quality Management District;
- Preparing Respiratory Protection Plans and detailed work plans outlining proper procedures;
- Providing temporary power and usage of ground fault interrupters (GFIs);
- Providing temporary and emergency lighting;
- Considering emergency precautions and mitigation procedures for clean up of suspected asbestos spills or releases;
- Performing personnel monitoring - air sampling within the breathing zone for safety identify and handle waste for disposal;
- Preparing Staging Areas used for security and storage of supplies and equipment;
- Maintaining a worker decontamination enclosure area consisting of a clean room, a shower room, and an equipment room to control passage of workers.
